Born in Dearborn, Michigan, Doug was raised for most of his life in Thousand Oaks, CA, one of four siblings. His family arrived in T.O. in 1963. After completing college, he began his ministry in the Conejo Valley in 1976 as a youth pastor, a position he held in three churches over nine years.
Pastor Posey graduated from Vanguard University (formerly Southern California College) in Costa Mesa, CA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion/biblical studies in 1976. He later earned his Master of Arts in Christian Education at Talbot School of Theology, a graduate school of Biola University in La Mirada, CA.
For over 14 years, Doug served as a Teaching Pastor and Pastor of Adult Discipleship at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village, CA. While there, Pastor Posey was ordained by the Missionary Church, in 1992. He became known for his strong commitment to teaching with biblical integrity and a thorough-yet-applicable and winsome style. Hundreds gathered on Wednesday nights at Calvary to learn and grow under Doug’s verse-by-verse teaching. His calling and passion is to help others grow in their faith and understanding of God’s Word.
In May of 2004, Doug left Calvary to plant Living Oaks Community Church. The first service was held in June, 2004 at the Borchard Community Center gym in Newbury Park, where the church continued to meet and grow until February of 2006. LOCC then moved to their new facility at 1033 Business Center Circle in Newbury Park where approximately 1100 gather weekly for worship.
Pastor Posey resides in Thousand Oaks, CA with Wendi, his wife of 25 years, and their three children.
