Shawna Hoekstra is a native southern Californian and grew up in Cuyama Valley on a dairy farm. She began working with children when she was a child. She has always had a strong passion for working with children and influencing them to follow Christ.
Shawna attended Cuyama Valley’s Elementary and High School and continued her education at Westmont, Southwestern Conservative Baptist Bible College, as well as Christian Heritage College (now San Diego Christian College) in El Cajon where she received her BA in Liberal Arts. She has been teaching for many years and plans on continuing her education to receive her master’s in technology to stay focused on what children need to know about technology in order to succeed in life as they grow up.
Shawna enjoys working with children of all age groups as well as working with adults to help them with their technology needs. In her spare time, she likes to do needlepoint, cross-stitches, play volleyball, go to the movies, and work on her computer.
Shawna began attending Living Oaks in June 2006 after she accepted a part-time position as Administrative Assistant. She has felt welcome and made LOCC a second home in which she is actively involved in multiple ministries. She loves serving the Lord at Living Oaks and looks forward to working many years under the awesome leadership here.
